Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiac ICU position requiring at least 12 months of high-acuity cardiac PICU experience and a WI or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a 24-bed Pediatric Cardiac ICU within a hospital setting
- Patient population spans neonates, infants, and adult congenital cardiac patients
- Primary duties involve cardiac and cardiovascular surgery patients, including open heart, heart transplants, and open chest cases
- Shift is 12-hour nights from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m.
- Required to float to NICU and general PICU as needed
- Weekend shifts are required every other weekend
- Rotating holiday coverage required
- No on-call responsibilities
- Uses Epic EMR system
- RNs coordinate and manage care for patients and families in a high-acuity environment
- Must provide care for hemodynamically compromised patients and those with impending respiratory failure
- Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions permitted
- Professional scrubs of any color are allowed
- A single small nose stud is permitted; no other visible body piercings except ear piercings are acceptable
- Travelers should expect to float between units as needed
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license
- ASN or BSN required; BSN preferred
- Current AHA BLS and PALS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- 12 to 18 months of recent high-acuity cardiac PICU experience required
- Level I trauma experience highly preferred
- Strong critical thinking and advanced cardiac assessment skills
