Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Neuro ICU opportunity requiring ICU and IMC float flexibility and strong experience with ventilators and acute stroke management.
Responsibilities
- Work in a Neuro ICU within a short-term acute care hospital setting
- Care for neurological critical care patients with a patient ratio of 1:2 in ICU and 1:4 in IMC
- Float required to IMC, Med/Surg, or Tele units with equivalent or lower acuity
- Night shift: 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30
- Every other weekend shifts required with at least 6 weekend shifts per contract
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Uses Cerner EMR; Cerner experience required
- Tele and vent management required
- First-time travelers are welcome on this unit
- Holiday coverage and floating between ICU, IMC, Med/Surg, and Tele units is required
- Scrubs are not provided; hunter green color is required
- Parking is free on site
- Completion of required online modules prior to start and during orientation
- Return staff must have been separated from the health system for at least 1 year to be eligible
- Local candidates are accepted at a lower rate for those residing within 60 miles
- No more than 7 days of requested time off for the duration of the 13-week contract is highly preferred, and no time off is allowed during the first 2 weeks
Requirements
- Active MD or compact RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent ICU nursing experience required
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
- Experience with telemetry, vent management, and CVA/acute stroke care required
- Cerner charting experience required
- Two professional supervisor references from the past 2 years required
- Flu vaccine required
