Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position with mixed acuity patients, requiring an active OH or compact RN license and strong flexibility in scheduling.
Responsibilities
- Work on a Med/Surg Tele unit in a hospital setting with mixed acuity patients including PCU and MS cases
- Patient ratio is 1:5
- Cares for oncology and other adult patients, with telemetry monitoring and tracheostomy management
- Required to float to units of equivalent or lower acuity as needed
- Shifts may be day, night, or rotating 12-hour shifts depending on departmental needs
- No set schedule or guaranteed weekends off; full scheduling determined by facility
- Uses Epic EMR and requires prior experience
- Skills required include IV starts, telemetry, and tracheostomy management
- Primary responsibilities include providing nursing care to mixed acuity Med/Surg Tele patients, including those with oncology needs
- Must be flexible and adaptable with schedule, as the facility determines all shift assignments
- Self-schedule requests are accepted and reviewed prior to posting the final schedule
- First week includes Mon-Fri dayshift orientation, followed by 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor
- Fingerprinting for Ohio is required and must be completed promptly after hire
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- All requested time off must be included at time of consideration
- No coworker references accepted
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years RN experience required
- BLS certification required
- Experience with Epic EMR is required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Prior travel nursing experience preferred
- Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Must provide two professional references, one from a manager/director or supervisor
- Former employees eligible after a 6-month break; current staff not eligible as travelers
