Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position in an acute care setting, requiring a CA RN license and advanced certifications.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Labor & Delivery and Postpartum unit of an acute care hospital
- Unit includes 10 L&D beds, 2 ORs, 2 triage beds, and 18 postpartum beds
- Handle approximately 130 births per month, with high-risk and antepartum cases down to 23 weeks gestation
- Patient ratios: 1:1 close to delivery, 1:2 otherwise, 1:4 couplets on postpartum
- C-section experience is required including scrubbing, recovery, and circulating
- Uses Cerner EMR and Obix fetal monitoring system
- 12-hour night shifts with a requirement to work 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week period
- No on-call requirement; first to float if needed, primarily between L&D and postpartum
- Care for both standard and high-risk obstetric patients, including advanced maternal-fetal cases
- Support is available from charge RNs and scrub techs in L&D
- No OB/neonatologist currently in house, perinatology support available; RT and pharmacy available 24/7
- 12-hour orientation (3 floor-specific shifts provided)
- Scrubs are provided by the facility
- Holiday coverage requires 1 major and 1 minor holiday per assignment
- Floating to postpartum is required; floating to NICU only if NICU background is present
- Candidates with recent employment (within 1 year) at any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility are not eligible
Requirements
- Active CA RN license required at time of consideration; compact licenses are not accepted
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in Labor & Delivery
- Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS, NRP, and AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring
- C-section scrub, recovery, and circulate experience required
- Experience with Cerner EMR and Obix fetal monitoring preferred
- Two professional references: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months and one from a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years
- Copy of driver’s license must be provided for consideration
