Job Description
      American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Multi Care ICU position requiring strong ICU skills and an active AZ or compact RN license.
      
            Responsibilities
            - Position is in the Multi Care Unit (MCU), an acuity-adaptable ICU within an acute care hospital
- Unit includes 10 beds and cares for ICU, PCU, and med-surg/tele (MST) patients all in one location
- Patient population includes medical ICU cases such as sepsis, suicide attempt, drug or alcohol withdrawal, COPD, respiratory arrest, pneumonia, COVID, DKA, and post-op complications
- Ratios depend on acuity: ICU 1:2, PCU 1:4, MST 1:5-6, or 1:3 if no nurse aid is present
- RNs required to titrate drips including sedation, vasopressors, and insulin
- Ventilators, BiPAP, and CPAP used with full respiratory therapy support
- RNs expected to perform and interpret 12-lead EKGs and monitor ICU patients at the bedside
- Uses Cerner EMR
- 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required (Friday and Saturday for nights)
- Float required to other adult units and to the West Campus in Prescott for ICU/PCU assignments, always with at least two hours' notice
- Main duties include managing patients across ICU, PCU, and med-surg/tele levels of care
- Will be the first to float; floating may include taking full med-surg team assignments at a ratio of 1:5
- Charge RN oversees entire inpatient area including multiple units, but each RN works within the MCU unit
- Holiday rotations are required to ensure fair coverage
- Nurse aides assist when present; if not, primary care ratios adjust accordingly
- Scrubs in any color except camouflage are permitted
- Mandatory hospital and unit-specific orientation provided
- Remote monitor techs assist with PCU and MST patient monitoring
- Must pass an additional test on sterile technique for foley or central line dressing changes on first orientation day
- Candidates who fail testing twice are not eligible for rehire for six months in the region
Requirements
      - Active AZ or compact state RN license required at time of application
- Minimum two years of ICU experience required; one year ICU and one year PCU/med-surg accepted if in large facilities with strong skills
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required
- Must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam prior to contract signing, with two attempts allowed
- Ability to titrate drips and manage complex medical ICU patients
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
- Candidates may not have worked full time, part time, or PRN with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past year
