Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Renal Stepdown Unit with strong telemetry skills and at least three years of cardiac/tele experience.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Cardiac Renal Stepdown Unit of a teaching hospital
- Day shifts are 12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7 PM
- Care for high-acuity patients with complex cardiac and telemetry needs such as Afib with RVR, arrhythmias, CHF, COPD, sepsis, post-ablation, and dialysis
- Unit has 32 beds with day shift ratios of 1:4-5
- Epic EMR system is used and recent hands-on experience is required
- Float required within skillset, including other nearby campuses (8 to 11 miles), with at least 2 hours notice for cross-campus float
- Weekend requirement is three weekends in a six-week schedule; must work every other holiday
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- Responsibilities include management of cardiac stepdown and renal patients with multiple comorbidities
- May be required to precept students and new hires as part of teaching hospital responsibilities
- Team is highly experienced with excellent unit retention and strong leadership
- Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
- Candidates with three or more unexcused absences may be subject to termination
- COVID-19 vaccination is not currently required but subject to change
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license
- Minimum three years of recent Cardiac/Tele experience required
- At least two prior travel assignments required
- Experience working in a trauma level II hospital required
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Proficiency with Epic EMR and must complete Epic checkoff
- Strong skills in telemetry, 12-lead EKG interpretation, and passing a telemetry skills test required
- Required skills include initiating and titrating drips (antiarrhythmics, Heparin, etc.), PIV insertion, chest tube/drain management, antidysrhythmic medication administration, and nephrostomy tube management
- Excellent assessment and critical thinking skills necessary
- Candidates must live outside a 40-mile radius from the facility
