Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a full-time Med/Surg Corrections assignment in Illinois, requiring an active IL RN license and flexibility to float across units.
Responsibilities
- Position is in a correctional facility Med/Surg divisional unit
- Full time position working 5 evening shifts per week from 15:00 to 23:30 with every other weekend required
- Floating to various units within or up to 50 miles outside the primary facility is mandatory and may occur with as little as 2 hours' notice
- No home unit assignment; assignment may include work outside primary area of competency under a team-based care model
- No block scheduling or special scheduling requests are allowed
- Responsibilities include providing nursing care in Med/Surg units of a correctional facility
- No more than 5 days of requested time off allowed, with no more than 2 consecutive days and no RTO on weekends
- No holiday RTO and no RTO allowed the day before or after holidays
- If called out on a holiday, the contract may be canceled
- Strict compliance with documentation and onboarding deadlines is expected
- Team-based support provided when floating outside primary competency
- Evening shifts require coverage every other weekend
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required and must be in hand upon consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Proof of all required vaccines, including COVID-19 (booster not required), due 1 week prior to start date
- Lab work must be completed within 72 hours of offer acceptance
- Must be responsive and able to provide estimated times of arrival for all compliance items
- Candidates living within a 75-mile radius will be considered local
