Med/Surg RN Job Details
- Location: Des Moines, Iowa (50309) – Top destination for Iowa nursing jobs
- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (Start: 11/24/2025 – End: 2/23/2026)
- Healthcare Setting: Med/Surg Y8 Unit (Pulmonary/Medical Surgical, 23 beds)
- Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Employment Type: Travel RN, On-Site
- Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; holiday rotation required (must work 2 of 3 winter holidays)
Registered Nurse Qualifications
- Active Iowa RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience (including pulmonary patient care)
- Experience with bi-pap, trach care, and COVID+ patient care
- BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- Ability to float across all campuses as needed
- First-time travel nurses welcome with 2+ years of Med/Surg experience
- Submission of recent resume, skills checklist (within 1 year), license verification, and professional references
Med/Surg RN Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to diverse Med/Surg patients
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
- Deliver specialized pulmonary care, including bi-pap and trach management
- Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC EMR
- Float to other units or campuses as needed to support patient care
- Participate in scheduled weekend and holiday rotations
