Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) maintains the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees. Focused on patient safety, the RN demonstrates commitment to the organization's core values, ensuring that both patients and team members remain safe in their work environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis for individualized care plans.
- Identify teaching needs and goals of patients through assessments and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and timely in the medical record.
- Participate in the patient rehabilitation program, ensuring patient education is a priority.
- Initiate discharge planning and patient teaching from the day of admission.
- Maintain communication with all care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Supervise and train ancillary nursing personnel, using effective problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety according to hospital policies.
- Foster a positive work environment through effective team communication and direction.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested, following the orientation period.
- Engage in professional development through continuing education and self-study.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to first shift.
- ACLS Certification required prior to first shift for CIRH only.
- Minimum of two (2) years of bedside clinical experience is required.
