Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a high-acuity PACU position with trauma experience and NH or compact RN license requirements.
Responsibilities
- Work in a high-acuity, high-volume hospital PACU setting
- Care for post-surgical patients from vascular, general, thoracic, gynecology, neuro, orthopedic, and kidney transplant surgeries
- Frequent evening shifts with controlled chaos environment
- Variable day and night rotating shifts with start times at 0700, 0800, 0900, 1000, 1100, and 1900
- Regular overnight care for ICU craniotomies, step down, and med-surg boarders
- Patients may have ventricular drains, art lines, central lines, tracheostomies, and chest tubes
- Familiarity with vasoactive and sedative drips required
- Provide advanced post-anesthesia nursing care for a diverse range of surgical patients
- Support team includes nurses with advanced trauma and critical care expertise
- Duties include managing step down and overnight boarder patients with complex needs
- Environment often involves high patient turnover and rapid response requirements
- All certifications must remain active through assignment duration
Requirements
- Active NH or compact RN license required
- Current BLS certification required
- Recent Level 1 or comparable Level 2 Trauma experience within the last 2 years required
- Familiarity with arterial lines, central lines, and titrating vasoactive and sedative drips required
- High acuity PACU or ICU experience strongly preferred
- No local candidates; applicants must live more than 75 miles from the facility
