Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry Float Pool position requiring AZ or compact licensure and strong cardiac drip titration skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Telemetry Float Pool within an acute care hospital setting
- Float between Telemetry, MedSurg, ICU, Cardiac Tele, Cath Lab, ER, observation floors, and both Chandler and Mercy Gilbert campuses
- Posts include Tele CV, Tele Neuro, and MedSurg units with patient ratios of 1:3-4 for Telemetry and 1:4 for MedSurg
- Care for cardiac, neurological, post-surgical, and oncology patient populations
- Ability to titrate cardiac drips such as Amio, Cardene, Nitro, Heparin, Dobutamine required
- 12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with four weekend shifts per schedule period
- Expect to float to similar or lower acuity units; notification of campus/unit at least 1.5 hours before shift
- Uses Cerner EMR for documentation
- Work requires flexibility with floating between multiple units and campuses, with mid-shift movement possible
- Care includes a variety of patient conditions: post-cath lab, post-vascular, day 2 CABG, post-neuro surgical, CVA, ortho, oncology, and elective surgical patients
- Centralized telemetry monitoring and team support from PCTs as well as a charge nurse who does not take patients
- Hospitalist coverage with RT and Pharmacy services available 24/7
- Scrub color is navy
- Must work two out of three major holidays during the assignment
- Floor-specific orientation provided (2 shifts)
- Returning candidates must not have been employed by any CommonSpirit affiliated facility within the last year
- Travelers who fail either the dysrhythmia or Sim Lab exams may be disqualified for 6 months from CommonSpirit positions in the region
Requirements
- Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of submission
- Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience in Telemetry or relevant acute care units
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Ability to interpret EKGs and titrate cardiac drips
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to contract signing (2 attempts maximum)
- Must pass a Sim Lab test on first day of orientation
- Copy of driver's license required for consideration
- Two professional references: one supervisor from past 12 months and one peer or supervisor from last 3 years
