Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg night shift position requiring trauma level II experience and strong RN assessment skills.
Responsibilities
- Position is located in a hospital Med/Surg unit with a 41-bed capacity
- Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Patient population includes post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF patients
- Nights patient ratio is 1:6-7
- Floats within skillset, with potential to float to nearby campuses with at least 2-hour notice for cross-campus floats
- Weekend requirement is three weekends per six-week schedule
- Holiday coverage is required for every other holiday
- Uses Epic EMR—recent experience required
- Team includes experienced leadership and CNA support
- May be required to precept students and new hires as this is a teaching hospital
- Scrubs must be free of competing health system or agency logos
- COVID-19 vaccine is not required at this time, subject to change
- No local candidates accepted; a 40-mile radius rule applies
- Termination may occur after three call-ins
Requirements
- Active IN or compact RN license required
- Current AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of strong Med/Surg experience required
- At least 2 previous travel assignments required
- Trauma level II experience required
- Recent Epic EMR experience required and willingness to complete a checkoff class
- Proficiency with remote telemetry, chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight cath/Foleys, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management
- Demonstrated strong assessment and critical thinking skills
