Job Description
The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient’s episode. The RN on 3 North develops specialized skills in the area of patients admitted for medical conditions, providing care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations. The 3 North RN is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The RN is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a Healing Environment.
Responsibilities
- Applies nursing knowledge and skill in the delivery of care.
- Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and analyzing data from observations and healthcare communication.
- Develops individualized care plans in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team.
- Promotes and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient, building mutual trust and respect among team members.
- Teaches patients and families to aid in self-care after discharge and documents the education provided.
- Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and engages in self-evaluation of practice.
- Strives to develop a helping, trusting, and caring relationship with patients and families.
- Demonstrates skill in medication administration and maintains compliance with infection prevention strategies.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- NYS RN Licensure Required
- Certifications Required: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS
- One (1) year of experience serving in a Med/Surg environment as a Registered Nurse
Schedule
Part-time schedule consisting of two 12-hour shifts per week with rotational day/night/weekend/holiday availability required.
