Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel or Contract Assignment? Location: Lincoln, Maine
? Pay: $2,207 weekly (includes stipend and travel allowance)
Position Summary
Penobscot Valley Hospital is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in Lincoln, Maine. The ideal candidate will possess strong critical thinking, assessment, and communication skills, providing high-quality patient care to individuals across all age groups in accordance with nursing standards and hospital policy.
Credentials and Requirements
- Current Maine RN license (or compact state equivalent) — required
- BSN preferred
- BLS certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities
- Proficient in nursing assessment and skills for all age groups
Work Environment
This position involves a variety of physical tasks including standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, stooping, bending, reaching, and balancing. Candidates must be able to lift up to 30 lbs and assist in pushing patients in wheelchairs or stretchers.
Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to assess patients is required.
Potential exposure to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and cleaning chemicals/fumes is part of the work environment.
Primary Job Functions
- Perform initial and ongoing age-appropriate nursing assessments.
- Identify priorities and develop individualized plans of care based on patient needs and physician orders.
- Implement and evaluate nursing interventions to achieve patient goals.
- Communicate and coordinate care with the healthcare team, documenting all activities per hospital policy.
- Maintain safe and efficient working conditions for staff and patients.
- Administer medications accurately using the “five rights” and med verification system.
- Provide patient and family education and discharge planning.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and bedside rounding.
- Support hospital Quality Improvement initiatives and recommend process improvements.
- Participate in Emergency Management planning and drills as part of the hospital’s disaster response efforts.
