Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring strong PICU and telemetry skills at a state-of-the-art children's hospital.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 21-bed Pediatric ICU caring for critically ill or injured children
- Patient population includes acute head injuries, neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies, organ transplants, multi-system organ failure, and ECMO cases
- Workday consists of 12-hour day/evening shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm, Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holiday coverage required
- Cardiac stepdown and general cardiac experience is preferred
- Travelers are prioritized for floating assignments and may be scheduled in multiple units as staffing needs arise
- EPIC EMR experience required
- A telemetry skills exam must be passed prior to starting the assignment
- Provide comprehensive, family-centered care as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team
- Unit is a Level One Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU
- Orientation generally lasts about one week and is department-specific
- First-time travelers may be accepted for some units
- Scrub color and dress code details will be provided upon assignment
- Pass/fail telemetry testing is required before starting; failure to pass after the allowed attempts may result in contract cancellation
- Holiday and weekend rotation expected as part of shift scheduling
- No references are required for consideration
- Requests for time off are considered during review, with generally no more than two consecutive weeks allowed
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license required at the time of application
- Current American Heart Association BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum two years of recent acute care PICU experience within the past three years required
- Basic arrhythmia and telemetry skills required
- Must pass a pediatric telemetry exam with strict criteria prior to start, with up to two attempts
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred
- Must live at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
- EPIC EMR experience within the past 12 months preferred
