Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN with strong vascular, ortho, and neuro skills for a Level 1 trauma center, TX or compact license required.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Operating Room department of a Level 1 trauma center
- Handles a broad range of cases including orthopedic, neuro, vascular, urology, general, robotic, and some eye procedures
- Shift is 4x10 hour days, Monday to Friday, 10:30 to 21:00, with a rotating day off and required call
- Unit has 14 OR rooms
- No EMR documentation is required, but EPIC charting experience is preferred
- No local candidates accepted from specified counties or within a 50-mile radius
- Will participate in a variety of surgical procedures except for cardiac and transplant cases
- Call coverage is required as part of the rotation
- No travel pairs or groups will be considered
- No more than 3 days of requested time off (RTO) will be auto-approved, and no RTO is allowed during the first week of orientation
- Orientation includes onsite modules completed during the first week, totaling 4-6 hours for RNs
- Holiday coverage may be required as part of the assignment
Requirements
- Active TX or compact State RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room RN experience required with robust expertise in vascular, ortho, neuro, urology, and general cases
- Current BLS certification and NBSTSA certification required
- ACLS certification preferred
- Previous travel experience required
- Pediatrics and adolescent experience preferred
- Skills in trauma, endo/lap, neuro, ortho, podiatry, thoracic, vascular, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, carotid endarterectomy, endovascular aneurysm repair, femoral popliteal bypass graft, dilation & curettage, and aseptic technique are required
- Former permanent staff must be gone at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
