Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position with ICU and EPIC experience and rotating shifts.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) in an oncology-focused hospital setting
- Adult patient population with diagnoses including hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, sepsis, ARDS, craniotomy, strokes, and intracranial hypertension
- Specialized procedures include external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocols, mechanical ventilation, heated high flow, Bipap, CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration
- Uses EPIC electronic medical record system; prior experience is required
- Day (7:00-19:30) and night (19:00-7:30) 12-hour shifts with rotating schedule
- Responsibilities include management of critically ill adult patients with complex medical conditions and the use of advanced monitoring and life support equipment
- RTO (requested time off) must be requested and built into contract at the time of submission
- First time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible if separated from the facility for at least 6 months; current employees of Ohio State University hospitals are not eligible
- Strict compliance with Ohio fingerprinting requirements is necessary, with prompt completion after contract signing
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license must be in hand at the time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience required
- Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS are required
- Completion of nursing education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program is required
- Experience with EPIC EMR is required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Must provide 2 professional references, with at least 1 from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for one reference
