Seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel nursing job in Richmond, Virginia (zip code 23226). Travel Nursing Job Details
- Employment Type: Travel Nursing – Labor & Delivery RN
- Location: Richmond, VA 23226 (Virginia nursing jobs)
- Healthcare Setting: Labor & Delivery (LDRP) Unit
- Shift: 12-hour Nights (required to work every other weekend and major holidays)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/3/2026)
- On Call: 1-2 shifts every 6 weeks
- Floating: Within Women's Health units as needed
- Unit Details: 11 Labor Rooms, 2 OBs, 2 ORs, 3 OB ED (Triage), 12 Antepartum/Women's OBGYN unit; average 200 deliveries/month
Labor & Delivery RN Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience (high acuity preferred)
- Fetal monitoring experience required; certification preferred
- BLS and NRP certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Circulating experience required; scrub experience preferred
- Ability to float within Women's Health and OBGYN units
- Willingness to work nights, every other weekend, and major holidays
- No local candidates (must reside outside a 50-mile radius of Richmond, VA)
- At least 1 year of RN experience required
Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities
- Deliver and coordinate nursing care for laboring mothers and newborns in a family-centered healthcare environment
- Perform initial and ongoing patient assessments, develop and implement care plans, and educate patients and families
- Administer medications and interventions safely and efficiently
- Monitor fetal and maternal status, perform vaginal exams, and support breastfeeding and discharge planning
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal maternal and neonatal outcomes
- Float to other Women's Health and OBGYN units as needed
- Serve as a patient safety advocate and participate in quality improvement initiatives
- Maintain professionalism and compassion in high-stress and emergency situations
