Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN to join the Emergency Department in a community hospital, requiring a WA or compact RN license and advanced life support certifications.
Responsibilities
- Position is based in the Emergency Department of a 58-bed community hospital with 19 dedicated ER rooms and 4 fast-track bays
- Patient population ranges from neonates through geriatrics, including trauma, sepsis, COVID, STEMI, stroke, DKA, respiratory, cardiac, neurological, and mental health cases
- Approximately 30% of patients are pediatric
- Rare obstetric deliveries may occur; patients are stabilized and transferred as needed
- No ICU, trauma facility designation, invasive neuro, craniotomies, or Cath lab cases
- Uses Epic for charting, along with Alaris, Pyxis, and both central and bedside telemetry monitoring systems
- 12-hour rotating shifts are offered, which may include days, mids, evenings, nights, or variable patterns
- No on-call requirements
- Floating may be required to upstairs units as a nurse extender or to Auburn
- Role includes stabilizing and preparing high-acuity patients for transfer to higher-level facilities
- Rare OB deliveries are managed with mock drills and immediate transfer protocols
- Royal or navy blue scrubs required; black pants are permitted
- Teamwork is emphasized in a supportive community hospital environment
- No tele tech support, monitoring occurs at the nursing station
- No holiday or call expectations specified
- First-time travelers meeting experience requirements are welcome to apply
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license required (pending license accepted with proof of application)
- Minimum of 2 years of emergency department RN experience required
- First-time travelers are considered with at least 4 years of ED experience
- Current ACLS, BLS, MOAB or CPI, NIHSS, NRP, and PALS certifications required (ENPC not accepted)
- Proficiency in cardiac rhythm interpretation, IV skills, general ED medication and drip administration, conscious sedation, blood administration, and cardiac medications
- Experience managing code blues, chest tubes, and central lines (A-lines, CVP)
- TNK administration preferred
- Comfort with ventilators and transfer of high acuity patients
- Epic charting experience preferred
