Job Description
American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a night shift orthopedic and general medical unit, requiring at least one year of experience and orthopedic patient care skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in a 42-bed Med/Surg/Ortho hospital unit
- Patient population includes general medical, post-op, orthopedic, trauma, and total joint replacement cases
- Night shift is 12 hours, with a 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio
- Weekend rotation required every other weekend, with nights considered Friday and Saturday
- Required to float to other Med/Surg units as needed
- EMR system used is EPIC
- Utilizes Alaris IV pumps and Omnicell for medication dispensing
- Schedule is released 4 weeks in advance
- No on-call requirements
- Work collaboratively with a team including CNA, charge nurse, HUC, resource nurse, wound care, RT, hospitalist, and IV/VAT team support
- Remote telemetry monitoring with no bedside RN strip interpretation required
- Orientation includes hospital onboarding and one to two 12-hour precepted shifts
- Coverage of 1-2 holidays per contract required
- Up to 7 days of RTO may be approved
- Scrub color is not specified; any color is acceptable
- Free parking available onsite and in surrounding lots
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license
- Current BLS certification
- Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg experience
- Experience with orthopedic and post-op patients required, including total joints and spinal fusions
- Ability to manage CPAP/BiPAP with RT support
- Experience with wound vacs, JP/Hemovacs, SCDs, and infusions such as heparin, protonix, and octreotide drips
- First-time travelers accepted with at least 2 years of experience
