Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position in a Level 1 Trauma setting, requiring a MA RN license and strong ICU skills.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical ICU (MICU) of a hospital environment
- Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, 36 hours per week, from 7:00pm to 7:30am
- Every other weekend and every other holiday required
- 10-bed unit with an average nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2
- Patient population includes respiratory failure, renal disease, ETOH withdrawal, sepsis, respiratory and cardiac arrest, and GI bleeds
- Must be able to independently read and interpret telemetry rhythm strips
- Floating between ICU units may be required
- Initial telemetry test required on day one
- Provide comprehensive care for complex, critically ill patients including those with multi-system failure and high acuity conditions
- Team includes experienced ICU staff with support from advanced practice providers and physicians
- Scrub or dress code not specified; verify before assignment
- Holiday coverage required as scheduled
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
Requirements
- Active MA RN license required at time of consideration
- Minimum of 2 years recent MICU/ICU experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications must be active
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma facility required
- Must be able to read and independently interpret telemetry rhythm strips
- Preferred experience with radial artery sticks, CRRT, blood draws, IV skills, and CCRN certification
- Must pass Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Test A or B (two attempts allowed)
- At least 2 professional references, one from a manager and recent within 12 months, required for consideration; references from travelers not accepted
