Responsibilities:
Are you a dedicated and skilled mechanic with a passion for travel? Then join the MV Transportation team. We are seeking a highly skilled Nationwide Traveling Mechanic. This role involves diagnosing, repairing/replacing, and maintaining buses and automobiles across multiple locations. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with advanced automotive/diesel systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring vehicles are safe, reliable, and operating at peak performance. PLEASE NOTE: THIS ROLE REQUIRES EXTENSIVE NATIONWIDE TRAVEL, with the majority of your time spent on the road. CANDIDATES MUST BE COMFORTABLE BEING AWAY FROM HOME FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnostics and Repairs:
- Conduct advanced troubleshooting of bus and automobile systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Repair and replace faulty components, ensuring compliance with safety and manufacturer standards.
Preventative Maintenance:
- Perform scheduled maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, brake inspections, and tire rotations.
- Inspect and maintain vehicle systems to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
Travel and On-Site Support:
- Travel to designated locations to provide on-site mechanical services.
- Collaborate with local teams to ensure timely and efficient repairs.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed in MV’s Fleet Management System.
Qualifications:
Talent Requirements:
- MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL FREQUENTLY
- High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred).
- Combination of at least five (5) years of verifiable training and experience in automotive and/or diesel mechanics.
- Extensive knowledge of diesel and gasoline engines, diagnostics tools, and advanced vehicle systems.
- Ability to work independently and handle a diverse workload.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license required—CDL is a nice-to-have but not required.
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug testing.
- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 50 lbs).
- Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoors and in adverse weather conditions.
