Job Summary Assists the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Executive Director in providing direction, supervision and consultation for all departments of the CVB. Develops annual budget in conjunction with and based on the input from each of the operating departments within the Bureau. Implements action plans to solicit both individual and groups to visit Grapevine and utilize all of the City's accommodations, restaurants, retail shopping, attractions and convention facilities.
Essential Functions 1. Provides direction and oversight of subordinate directors in developing and executing comprehensive sales, public relations and advertising and marketing programs, for all hotels, attractions, meeting facilities, shopping, dining, winery tasting rooms, galleries, sports facilities and festivals and events which attracts visitors to Grapevine.
2. In the absence of the CVB Executive Director, responsible for the overall operations of the CVB.
3. Assists in personnel recruitment, selection, evaluation, training and retention of staff.
4. Assists in the development of CVB programs, marketing materials and distribution channels and systems to monitor activities and attract leisure or business groups and individuals as visitors to Grapevine to use hotel facilities, attractions, retail venues, Lake Grapevine, golf courses, etc.
5. Assists in providing planning and direction for the administration of CVB operating policies and procedures including budgets, facility activity reports, revenue forecasts and anticipated expenditures.
6. Assists in providing direction and leadership to overall Convention Center operations, events scheduling and programming, marketing and promotion programs and facility maintenance.
7. Assists in providing strategic marketing and sales leadership and direction for the use of hotel accommodations and meeting facilities; monitors program effectiveness and modifies direction and implementation to meet rapidly changing market trends.
8. In conjunction with the other CVB Directors, oversees marketing and advertising programs, promotional materials, public relations campaigns in order to inform and attract leisure and business groups to Grapevine's hotels, convention facilities, retail areas, attractions, sports facilities, Lake Grapevine and festivals/special events, etc.
9. Assists in providing direction and leadership to promote positive positioning of Grapevine through festivals and events and further serves to generate funding for preservation and cultural endeavors through festival and event proceeds along with creating room night generating activities.
10. Assists in providing direction and leadership to the Train Operating Program; assists in setting goals and objectives for the division; oversees the operational, marketing and service programs of the train division.
11. Assists in providing direction and leadership to the Historic Preservation and Programs team; works with staff on programs and budgets.
12. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with Texas Travel Industry Association (TTIA) staff and members of TTIA to ensure participation on items that impact Grapevine and the State Tourism industry.
13. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with Texas Association of Convention and Visitors Bureaus (TACVB) staff and members of TACVB to ensure participation on items that impact Texas Convention and Visitors Bureaus.
14. Establishes and maintains professional relationships with Destinations International (DI) staff and members of DI to advance the exposure and promotion of Grapevine, Texas.
15. Establishes and maintains an active role as the liaison between Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Hotel Association of Tarrant County (HATC).
16. Establishes and maintains an active role as the liaison between the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau and metroplex CVB's.
17. Develops and maintains relationships with all of the Convention and Visitors Bureau stakeholders.
18. Functions as an advisor to other City Departments, Divisions and City Council on matters associated with the Grapevine Convention and Visitors Bureau.
19. Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
20. Regular and timely attendance are required for this position.
21. Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Required Skills • Knowledge of the principles, practices and theories of marketing, advertising, promotion, accounting, finance and forecasting.
• Must be able to ensure that all City and Convention and Visitors Bureau administrative policies and procedures are followed and maintained.
• Must be able to produce activity reports on a consistent basis and accurately reflect the bureau's marketing, sales and promotional programs.
• Must be able to ensure the goals and objectives of each department within the bureau are communicated and monitored.
• Must be able to monitor budgeted revenues and expenditures on a regular basis.
• Must be able to perform market trend analysis and evaluation.
• Must have planning and organization skills.
• Must be able to produce and oversee/implement short and long range goals and objectives.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or Marketing or Certified Destination Management Executive (CDME) plus ten years of progressive related leadership experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Must pass a credit check and a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas driver's license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS While performing the essential functions of this position the employee is rarely exposed to disagreeable environmental factors. There will be occasional exposure to outdoor weather elements as the position requires working outdoors during CVB sponsored events throughout the normal course of the year.
