Assistant or Associate Professor, Appointment Stream, Full-Time (12-month) faculty member in the Doctor of Chiropractic Program (DCP), Department of Community Health Services and Rehabilitation Science, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh.
CONTENT AREA(S): The successful applicant will primarily be responsible for the development and instruction of all diagnostic imaging courses in the DCP curriculum, consistent with accreditation standards set forth by the Council of Chiropractic Education (CCE).
Additionally, the successful applicant will be responsible for the development and instruction of National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) licensure examination preparation materials. Other classroom instruction in or directly associated with the DCP may be assigned depending on the needs of the program, and as assigned by the Program Director.
All said, instruction is aimed at developing the knowledge, skills, clinical reasoning, and professionalism necessary for graduating students to function as an evidence-based, primary musculoskeletal practitioners in different clinical settings.

Position Rank/Classification: The position is open at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank, and the assigned rank will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach all diagnostic imaging courses in the DCP aligned with the diagnosis and management of spinal and extraspinal disorders prevalent in contemporary chiropractic practice. Train, supervise, and coordinate lab instruction with any assigned teaching assistants. Stimulate classroom (virtual or otherwise) discussions and student participation in learning activities.
Create and/or compile pertinent course materials for distribution to students, including (but not limited to): syllabi with course learning objectives specifically mapped to CCE (meta)competencies/goals, notes, lab guides, online resources, and/or bibliographies of specialized materials for reading and/or writing assignments.
Create and/or compile, administer, and evaluate student-written or laboratory examinations for the purpose of assigning student grades. Develop and administer test questions for annual Objective and Structured Examinations. Assess assigned courses for continuous improvement. Participate actively in academic, scholarly, and/or professional activities within the chiropractic program (e.g., research, academic presentations, committees), and/or other pertinent programs at the University of Pittsburgh.
QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Qualifications:
• Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) degree awarded by an accredited University/College of Chiropractic.
• Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Board of Radiology (DACBR).
• Active Pennsylvania DC license (or the ability to acquire such licensure upon hire).
• Current clinical chiropractic practice experience.
Preferred Work Experiences and Qualifications:
• Clinical practice experience as a chiropractor in an interprofessional clinical setting.
• Relevant teaching experience of the aforementioned coursework.
• Formal training in evidence-based medicine/practice.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for sustained periods, up to 4 hours, while providing instruction in a lecture or lab setting.
- Constantly moves about the classroom and lab to engage with and assist students with various activities.
- Detects, observes, and assesses student psychomotor skills. This includes the ability to inspect both near and far distances to ensure student safety and proper technique.
- Operates, adjusts, and controls instructional tables and equipment as required by lab activities.
