Job Title: Registered Nurse – 1S Observation Unit (Evening Shift)
Location: Zanesville, OH

Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM (12-hour shifts), 36 hours/week
Start Date: October 20, 2025
End Date: January 18, 2026
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Evenings/Nights
Position Summary: Seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the 1S Observation Unit on a full-time evening shift contract. The RN will provide direct patient care in an acute observation setting, monitor telemetry, and be required to float to other Med-Surg and specialty units including respiratory, stroke, cardiac, and emergency departments based on staffing needs and skills.
Key Responsibilities:- Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care to adult patients in an observation unit
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans
- Monitor and interpret telemetry (BCRA) independently and accurately
- Administer medications and manage IVs, blood products, and other treatments
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams to coordinate patient care
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge planning
- Respond quickly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions
- Accurately document patient care and assessments using Epic EMR
- Float to Med-Surg and other units as needed based on staffing demands
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment in compliance with healthcare procedures and regulations
- Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control protocols
Required Skills & Qualifications:- Active RN License in the state of Ohio (unencumbered)
- Minimum of 3 years recent experience in Telemetry or Step-Down units
- Proficiency in telemetry rhythm interpretation (BCRA required)
- Must pass telemetry skills test on Day 1
- Epic EMR proficiency is required
- No training or refresher sessions will be provided
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills
- High level of accountability and ability to manage multiple patients
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
- Willingness to float to other units and take occasional call (rare)
