Job Description The Pathobiology Research associate will perform routine and specialized histology techniques, wet lab work, data acquisition, and compilation using state-of-the-art molecular pathology techniques. The incumbent will interface closely with other scientists, veterinary pathologists and histotechnologists in a client environment as well as other cross-functional project teams to provide timely, high-quality data to support the client. Key Duties & Responsibilities - Conduct routine histology techniques including tissue processing, trimming of tissues of diverse origin, embedding, paraffin block microtomy and cryo-sectioning
- Setup and perform routine pathology staining techniques including H&E and special stains
- Perform novel molecular pathology assays including IHC, RNAscope, multiplexing using automated platforms (Ventana and Leica) and manual methods
- Perform routine maintenance and monitoring of laboratory equipment, keep accurate laboratory records, and ensure proper archiving of pathology specimens
- Perform digital image analyses, while generating quantitative data using a variety of Image analysis softwares (e.g. HALO, MATLAB) to support discovery pathology programs in the client environment.
- Work with board-certified anatomic pathologists to review, QC, and approve algorithms
- Careful record keeping, follows good laboratory and GLP-like practices.
Qualifications Required Education Level and experience - bachelor's degree in biological sciences with 3-4 years of experience
- master's degree with 1-2 years of experience
- Experience working in a research or pharmaceutical-based histology laboratory.
Required Knowledge/Skills - Must have experience with histology techniques such as tissue processing and staining
- Experience with scanning and digital pathology platforms is preferred.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and provide timely, high-quality results on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
Other Requirements - ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.
