Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night Med/Surg Tele position in an acute care hospital, requiring an active IL RN license and at least two years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Med/Surg Tele unit of an acute care hospital
- Night shifts, 3x12 hours, 18:45-7:15
- Average nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5-6
- Patient population includes surgical cases following the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocol
- Floating required to other Med/Surg Tele units within the hospital and to an affiliated nearby facility
- EPIC is the charting system used and experience with EPIC is required
- Every other weekend coverage required
- On-call responsibilities required
- Scrub color is navy blue
- Provide nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients including those on an ERAS protocol
- May float to affiliated hospitals as needed based on staffing demands
- Acute care magnet hospital with a 31-bed unit
- Maximum of 7 days RTO approved per 13-week contract; no RTO allowed during first week
- Permanent former employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
- Travelers may remain on assignment for up to 18 months before a mandatory 3-month break
- All orientation modules must be completed prior to start date
- Free parking available on site
Requirements
- Active IL RN license required at time of consideration; pending license not accepted
- Minimum of 2 years of Med/Surg Tele experience required
- First-time travelers must have at least 3 years of experience
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification required
- Experience with EPIC charting system required
- Compliance with 75-mile radius rule; no local candidates within 75 miles accepted
- Must successfully pass fit testing; facial hair must allow for proper mask fit
- Date of birth and SSN required for consideration
- Modules and compliance requirements must be completed prior to start
