Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU position requiring CVICU and NextStage CVVH experience, with a WI or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) of a hospital
- Patient population includes cardiothoracic surgery, cardiac and thoracic procedures, heart and/or lung transplants, and medical device management
- Requires work on a day/night rotating schedule with 12-hour shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), every other weekend, and some holidays
- Travelers are required to float first and may be assigned to multiple units within the organization based on staffing needs
- Utilizes the NextStage CVVH machine and requires telemetry and basic arrhythmia monitoring
- Role involves caring for critically ill cardiac patients, including those undergoing heart/lung transplants and advanced cardiac procedures
- Expect to work as part of an interdisciplinary team in a high-acuity setting
- A one-week orientation is provided prior to starting clinical duties
- Strict pass/fail telemetry exam required prior to starting assignment, with two attempts allowed
- First-time travelers may be accepted depending on the unit
- Holiday coverage is required as assigned
- Department has specific rotating orientation schedules and start times
Requirements
- Active WI or compact RN license must be in hand for consideration
- Minimum two years of acute care CVICU experience within the last three years required
- Experience with NextStage CVVH machine required
- BLS and ACLS certification required from the American Heart Association
- Basic arrhythmia experience required and must pass pre-employment telemetry test
- Permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the work site location
- Locals are not accepted for this contract
