Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiovascular ICU role requiring at least 2 years of critical care experience and a current NC or compact RN license.
Responsibilities
- Position is in the Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU) within a large teaching hospital
- Work with a patient population including unstable STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, and post-thoracic surgery patients
- Unit features 14 private CVICU rooms, including two negative pressure rooms
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2
- 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
- Every other weekend and at least 75% of holidays are required
- No on-call or call-back responsibilities
- May be required to float within Region 1 facilities and within scope of practice, with paid time for mid-shift travel
- Unit uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
- CVICU nurses manage critically ill cardiovascular patients and support a variety of specialized cardiac procedures
- Charge nurse may or may not take a patient assignment on shift
- Support teams include in-house IV/VAT and respiratory therapists as well as an intensivist available 24/7
- Navy scrubs are required for this position
- Free parking is provided
- Travelers are expected to provide holiday coverage and flexibility for float assignments
- Candidates must be willing to float to multiple facilities within Region 1 as operational needs arise
Requirements
- Active NC or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of critical care experience required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
- Proficiency with vasoactive medication management, ventilators, surgical drains, chest tubes, and CRRT
- Experience with invasive lines (arterial, PA catheters, transvenous pacemakers), IABP, and Impella devices
- Epic charting experience preferred
- Graduates/first-time travelers are not preferred but may be considered
