Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in Michigan with post-surgical and telemetry skills required.
Responsibilities
- Work in the Medical Surgical unit of a hospital setting
- Patient ratio typically 1:6
- Will float to other Med/Surg, ICU, and ED waiting areas to care for M/S patients as needed
- Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (7:00 pm - 7:30 am)
- Remote telemetry monitoring required
- Weekend work required every other weekend
- No call responsibilities
- Holiday coverage required as needed
- Must be available for the first 8 days of the assignment without exception
- Holiday time-off requests are not permitted but may be discussed with management for unit needs
- Duties include complex post-op care, airway management, and management of specialized lines and drains
- Adheres to required infection control and isolation protocols
- Dress code and scrub requirements as per hospital policy
Requirements
- Active Michigan RN license required
- Current BLS (AHA) and NIH certifications required
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent Med/Surg or PCU nursing experience required
- Strong post-surgical care competencies required
- Proficiency in remote telemetry monitoring, colostomy care, feeding tube management, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, blood product administration, peripheral and PICC line management, and starting IVs
- Experience with heparin, insulin, PCA, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), high flow nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, isolation precautions, and wound care including wound vac
