Job Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Stepdown Cardiac RN with recent SD/PCU experience and telemetry competency for a night shift contract.
Responsibilities
- Position is located in a hospital stepdown cardiac unit
- Patient population includes heart failure, NSTEMI, post-procedure, chest pain, COPD exacerbation, and drug/alcohol withdrawal cases
- RN to patient ratios are typically 1:5-6
- Requires management of IV drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, amiodarone, Cardizem, and insulin
- Night shift schedule with four 12-hour shifts per week (19:00-07:30)
- Floating required within specialty clusters, including main, south, and north campuses
- EPIC EMR is used and experience is required
- Mandatory to work every other weekend and holiday
- Stepdown RNs provide advanced cardiac monitoring, titrate IV drips, and coordinate complex cardiac care
- Navy blue scrubs are required for this unit
- Average daily census is 31 patients
- Modules and orientation to be completed upon hire with up to 24 hours billable
- Must request any RTO at submission; no additional RTO will be approved post-offer and a maximum of 14 days off is allowed
- Locals within a 50-mile radius are not accepted for RN positions
- Facility may cancel up to 2 shifts per 13-week contract due to low census
- Must be available for assignment at all related campuses within specified mileage from the main campus
Requirements
- Active OH or compact RN license required prior to start
- Minimum 1.5 years of recent SD/PCU experience with documented 1:5 nurse-patient ratios
- BLS and NIHSS certifications required; ACLS preferred
- Ability to read and interpret EKG/telemetry strips
- Must pass an online EKG telemetry competency assessment prior to assignment
- IV start competence required
- Experience with EPIC charting required
- No previous license action accepted
- N95 mask fit testing required, or use PAPR as indicated
- Level 1 or 2 trauma experience preferred
- Travel experience preferred
