Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced ER RN with strong critical care skills and a valid WA or compact RN license for a mid-shift role at a new, fast-paced emergency department.
Responsibilities
- Work in a newly opened, off-campus emergency department with 8-10 beds
- Patient population includes all ages: neonates to geriatrics, with approximately 25% pediatric cases
- Cares for a variety of cases including trauma, cardiac, neuro, respiratory, psychiatric, GI, and frequent gunshot wounds
- Standard nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, with a fast-track area staffed at 1:6 with RN and NP
- Required to work 12-hour mid shifts as part of a weekend rotation (every other weekend)
- Use of Epic EMR, Alaris pumps, and Pyxis medication system
- No floating required
- RN is responsible for managing ventilators and BiPAP as there is no respiratory therapist onsite
- Will need to mix own medications under remote pharmacy supervision
- Charge responsibilities may be required; training provided if needed
- Support includes ED physician, charge nurse, ER tech, front desk, and limited phlebotomy assistance
- Comprehensive orientation includes hospital orientation, unit educator session, respiratory class, and clinical orientation
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Scrub color is flexible; any color is permitted
- Free parking is provided
- RTO (time off) up to 5 days is permitted
- Holiday coverage expectations are negotiable
Requirements
- Active WA or compact RN license
- Minimum 2 years of full-time ER experience in any trauma level
- Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, Advanced NRP, NIHSS, TNCC
- Ability to care for intubated patients and manage ventilators and BiPAP (training provided during onboarding)
- Strong IV skills, experience with chest tubes, central lines, medication administration, and mixing own medications
- Epic EMR experience preferred
- Must complete and pass a telemetry competency prior to start
