Reporting to the Administrative Supervisor, the Operations Technical Assistant performs a variety of technical, financial and administrative support tasks that assist the Electric Distribution Operations team. The position requires customer service skills, and a dedication to working in a team environment while maintaining positive relationships with the public and key stakeholder groups.
Your key responsibilities - Handle incoming service calls and customer complaints.
- Administer service requests and work orders for electric distribution and engineering.
- Interpret technical and financial data, as well as manage billing, payroll, accounts payable/receivable.
- Support apprenticeship program for powerline technicians.
- Manage Personal Protective Equipment procurement for the department and multiple departments.
- Coordinate the Streetlight Maintenance Program.
- Coordinate crews for electric-related tasks (Hi-Loads, hydrovacing, tree/streetlight maintenance).
What you bring - Skilled in operating Microsoft office. Ability to adapt to ERP systems, and familiarity with AutoCAD, ArcGIS and other drafting software are an asset.
- Strong understanding of Electric Utility operations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Advanced problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in prioritizing, multi-tasking, and scheduling.
- Commitment to corporate safety standards and confidentiality.
- Effective verbal and written communication, with the ability to interpret work orders, procedures, and technical information.
Qualifications - Successful completion of a two (2) year diploma in Office Technology or Business Administration from a post secondary institution.
- Two (2) years of experience in supporting an operations group, preferably in a utility environment.
- Experience in customer service is an asset.
- An equivalent combination of management approved education and experience may be considered.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen.
Pay range: - IBEW Distribution - Operations Assistant- Step 1 - $36.94 - Hourly
- IBEW Distribution - Operations Assistant- Step 2 - $39.94 - Hourly
- IBEW Distribution - Operations Assistant- Step 3 - $42.95 - Hourly
