Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med Surg/Ortho night shift position requiring an active ME or compact RN license and BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Position is located in a hospital Med Surg/Ortho unit
- Assignment length is 13 weeks with night shifts, 4 x 12-hour shifts per week (7p-7a), totaling 48 hours per week
- Patient population includes medical and post-surgical orthopedic cases
- Required to work every other weekend if requested by the department manager or supervisor
- Fifty (50) mile radius rule applies for eligibility
- Responsibilities include assessment and care of medical and post-surgical orthopedic patients, including administering IV medications, IV therapy, and blood products
- Team-based environment with involvement in plan development and updates in collaboration with patients and caregivers
- Holiday coverage may be required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day
- Travelers may only complete 2 consecutive 13-week assignments before a mandatory 26-week break if returning
- Facility reserves the right to call off or cancel up to three shifts per 13-week assignment due to census or staffing needs
Requirements
- Active ME RN license or compact RN license required and must be currently active
- BLS or BCLS certification required
- Minimum 1 year of previous nursing experience preferred
- Competency in application of restraints, seclusion, and care of patients in restraint or seclusion must be demonstrated and validated by the employing agency
- No candidates with license actions or background check issues will be considered
- Previous employment at St. Mary's is not permitted for consideration
