Selected candidates will be enrolled in the Critical Facility Technician training program within the first 30 days of employment.
Responsibilities:Responsible for ensuring that all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The technician serves as an expert technical resource reporting to a program manager, interacting with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO) and any third-party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center and to support operated data centers. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime.
Meet all requirements of CET1.
Utilize safe working practices; apply lockout/tagout, SDS, apply good housekeeping methods, etc.
Utilize common administrative and office software.
Read and interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, floor plans, construction documents, mechanical riser drawings, OEM operating and maintenance instructions, job specifications, and MOP/SOP's.
Use hand tools and test equipment to install, troubleshoot, and repair new or replacement parts for existing mechanical and electrical equipment covered under CET2 classified procedures, according to specifications and established safety guidelines, relying on MOP's, manufacturer's literature, and industry best practices to perform tasks under supervision, and ensures activities are logged in CMMS.
Assist a CET3/4 technician with CET3 classified procedures (MOP/SOP) associated with the site/campus they are based on, and transfer knowledge and train other technicians.
Conduct daily walk-through of facility documenting parameters such as power availability, temperature and humidity, alarm status, etc. to be catalogued and compared for identification of discrepancies and trends.
Be conversant in site-specific processes and procedures such as procedure creation and review standards, procedure instructions and templates, how to report an incident or outage, procedure execution, PM standards, CMMS standards and policy, work order and notification, as well as the use of SharePoint to access CE procedures and training content.
Understand how to action all site primary and secondary EOP's, focusing on mastering the first responder role during an emergency.
Fully conversant on how to complete drills associated with the site primary and secondary EOP's.
Understand the function, purpose, nominal operating parameters, and how to operate/isolate and start up: MV/LV Distribution Boards, MV/LV Breakers, UPS, Generator, Batteries, STS, ATS, AHU, DX units, Chillers, Evap Washer Systems, CRAC Units, Fuel Systems, ASCO Systems, BMS System, EPMS System, and Fire Alarm System.
Be conversant of the BMS and EPMS systems and the impact of any state change, capable of navigating the system, interpreting alarms, and able to perform controlled shutdowns/start-ups/equipment rotations.
If applicable to the role, disable and enable fire alarm control panels and systems.
Maintain maintenance records as required by City, State, and EPA regulations.
Interpret building codes and local and federal regulations as they relate to installations and apply them as required by the site.
Identify required materials and parts for maintenance and repair to facilitate procurement.
Understand the heating cycle to include identify components in the heating system, understand how each component works, diagnose problems in the heating system using a gas pressure test and other devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot and repair.
Understand the refrigeration cycles to include identifying components in advanced refrigeration circuits, understanding how each component works, diagnosing and correcting problems in the refrigeration circuit, using manifold gauge set, pressure/temperature chart and temperature measuring devices for routine maintenance and to troubleshoot.
Knowledge of power density and parity with HVAC system capacities, and cooling and heat load/loss calculations.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent with minimum 6+ years of experience with electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment.
Applicants must have a 3+ years of experience in a data center environment

Applicants identified as Mechanical shall have experience with centrifugal chillers greater than 300 tons, boilers, or significant other mechanical experiences

Applicants identified as Electrical shall have experience with switchgear, generators, UPS or significant other electrical experiences

D esired / Advantageous Qualifications:
Possess a Journeyman Electrician License, Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent.
Abilities:
The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to, loading, and unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of various materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety.
Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks and all types of ladders.
Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
