Description of Work This position is 100% federally funded. Recruitment Range: $61,545 - $80,000 The Policy Coordinator supports the needs of the Early Education Branch by providing support to branch and division leaders as it relates to program policies and legislation. This position will have a major focus on the statewide work involving NC Pre-K policies. This position is responsible for managing, organizing and preparing legislative requests for the Early Education Branch as well as researching, gathering and preparing materials to inform the development and revision of policy documents, presentations, reports, and procedural documents. This position will be the primary contact for legislative requests and bill reviews pertaining to NC Pre-K, Early Educator Support and Workforce.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Management Preferences:
- Experience in the field of social science or early childhood education
- Experience and knowledge of North Carolina early childhood systems, agencies, policies and practices.
- Experience in policy development, working with state agencies to engage in cross-agency collaboration, and working with policy experts, advocates and system users.
- Experience expressing ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, and speaking effectively before large groups.
- Experience and knowledge in gathering and analyzing childcare data, reports and other information.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Planner Master's degree in public or human service administration or human services programmatic field from an appropriately accredited institution, and three years of human service experience, two of which must have been in human services program planning; or Bachelor s degree from an appropriately accredited institution, and five years progressive administrative or consultative experience in a human service program, two of which must have been in human service program planning; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
