Purpose/Summary This position is only open to current employees of the Community College of Denver. External applicants will not be considered. GENERAL SUMMARY Supports the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs in strategically leading and managing all aspects of the teaching and learning process. This includes, but is not limited to, academic policies, procedures, and guidelines, curriculum development, assessment of student learning, faculty and instructor professional development, academic initiatives, accreditation, and educational partnership development and maintenance. This position is responsible for working collaboratively with CCD deans and staff throughout the college.
Duties and Responsibilities Supervision and Strategic Alignment Supervises and provides strategic leadership and direction to the following departments, ensuring that practices and resources align to the college's strategic goals and initiatives.
- High School Connections
- Responsible for developing relationships with high schools and k-12 districts, registering students for high school and college select courses, developing and expanding ASCENT and TREP students, and providing effective matriculation efforts for our concurrently enrolled students.
- Excel! Zone
- Responsible for tutoring and academic support to students including the Writing, Digital, and Math zones, developing and implementing new strategies for student support effectiveness, and coordinating with college academic departments for relevance and need.
- Momentum Placement and Testing Center
- Responsible for supporting students in identifying and gaining credit for their prior learning, providing a professional and comfortable atmosphere for class testing including accommodated testing, and providing a vendor-required professional environment for vendor testing.
Strategy Development, Implementation, Evaluation, and Refinement Collaborates with the college, and assists the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, in strategically developing, implementing, evaluating, essential processes of the college. These will change from time to time but include:
- Curriculum Development and Integrity
- Works across the college to ensure that the catalog, Degree Works, and Navigate are accurate and written with integrity.
- Supports deans, chairs, and faculty with program development and closure, including all CCD, state, and federal requirements.
- Leads the catalog true and active programs to verify and update our student sources of information.
- Ensures adoption of changes to course and curriculum by State Faculty Curriculum Committee (SFCC) and Colorado Department of Higher Education.
- Supports deans and chairs in non-traditional programmatic curriculum development such as hybrid, Competency-Based Education (CBE), and shortened parts of term.
- Develops and maintains accurate records and visualizations of high-wage high-demand programs within the CCD portfolio in alignment with labor market research and the Colorado governor's office.
- Prior Learning Assessment
- Oversee catalog of momentum credit and support deans, chairs, and faculty with development of momentum credit experiences that align with CCD strategy & vision.
- Support deans, chairs, and faculty with identifying and codifying industrial credentials and other widely recognized certificates to serve for prior learning assessment.
- Collaborate with deans, chairs, faculty, and the Center for Workforce Initiatives (CWI) to identify and reimagine courses serving both non-credit and credit needs.
- Transfer Relationships
- Lead in the establishment, maintenance, and sunsetting of transfer MOUs.
- Work across the college and with external stakeholders to provide clear paths for students in high school or industry through technical colleges and CCD to work or four-year colleges.
- Serve tri-institutionally with Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) and University of Colorado Denver (UC Denver) to improve transfer processes and completion rates for CCD students.
Compliance Works collaboratively across the college to help implement and establish practices that require strong understanding of federal, state, system, and accreditation needs. Serves on the Compliance Team as the academic liaison. Reports to the provost and executive council on compliance issues. Engages in college-wide discussions to support and facilitate compliance improvements. Specific areas of compliance include:
- Licensure reporting and online reporting
- Lead the college to ensure that CCD complies with online learning and reporting issues, including licensure and other requirements.
- Faculty qualifications
- Facilitate and support the process to ensure that all transcripted credit at CCD follows the federal, HLC, state, and institutional requirements for faculty credentialing.
- Federal Reporting Requirements
- Lead the college in ensuring that CCD meets the various federal reporting requirements of issue including the Student Right to Know Act, the Carnegie Unit requirements, and formal student compliant process.
- Project Manager for Higher Learning Commission activities
- Operationalize and lead the CCD plan compile and write the HLC ten-year re-affirmation of accreditation and HLC Mid-cycle Comprehensive Evaluation to address areas of concern as outlined in the current HLC report including strong collaboration by all relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinate and lead responses to HLC inquiries.
- Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO).
- Monitor and complete the annual institutional update, all substantive review processes, and other HLC duties that arise.
- Engage with CCCS ALO group.
- Complete all ALO required work in a timely fashion and communicate frequently and effectively to provost, president, and deans.
Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Education : (Minimum/Required) Master's or equivalent experience.
Experience: (required/minimum) - At least five years administrative experience as a dean and/or director in an academic setting.
- At least three years experience in an ALO position or similar position overseeing higher education accreditation oversight.
- Demonstrated experience working in service to a diverse population in an urban setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: (required/minimum) - Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to read and understand legal and accreditation language.
- Demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders across an organization as well as outside stakeholders.
Experience: (preferred) At least three years' experience in a community college
