Hospital: Centennial Medical Center – 12 Tower (2300 Patterson Street)
Shift: 12-Hour Shifts (Nights/Days, depending on availability)
Assignment Length: 13 Weeks

Job Overview

Centennial Medical Center is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse – Med Surg to join the team on 12 Tower (12T). This is a 36-bed medical-surgical unit with a strong culture of teamwork and patient-focused care. The unit also functions as an overflow non-ICU COVID unit during community surges.

Unit Specifics

Beds: 36
Patient Ratios: 1:4 or 1:5
Staffing: Secretary daily, PRN techs available
Equipment: PD Cyclers, Welch Allyn VS Carts, Hoyer Lift, Broda Chairs, Alaris IV Pumps
Documentation System: Meditech
Scheduling Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block
Floating Policy: Travelers will float over core staff
Dress Code: Scrubs (Navy, Blue, White, Black, Gray, Ceil Blue)

Requirements (Must-Have):

Active RN License (Compact or TN license)
BLS Certification
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
COVID-19 Vaccination

Preferred Experience & Skills:

2 years Med Surg nursing experience
Able to perform assessments and general care for:
- Wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, chest tubes
- Stroke & seizure management
- Dialysis patients and PCA pumps (only drip: Heparin)
Familiar with post-op procedures: amputations, ostomy, chest tubes, oral surgeries, wound vacs

Unit Expectations & Patient Experience

Bedside shift reports
Safety checks every 1–2 hours
Strong focus on communication and responsiveness
Compliance with HAI prevention, fall prevention, medication scanning, and attendance policy
