Job Title: Radiologic Technologist I
Job Summary
The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for obtaining diagnostic radiographic examinations at a technical level, requiring minimal supervision. This role performs essential functions to deliver quality patient care and ensure accurate diagnostic imaging.
Essential Generic Job Functions
- Produces diagnostic radiographic examinations by positioning patients and selecting proper technical factors based on individual patient needs.
- Restricts radiation beam through cone and collimating devices to minimize exposure to unaffected parts of the patient.
- Performs portable x-ray examinations in patient rooms, operating rooms, and the emergency room.
- Identifies patient films with proper documentation and correctly marks films regarding the side of the patient taken.
- Develops exposed x-ray films using available processing methods.
- Completes patient requisitions with necessary information such as technologist initials, date, number, and size of film.
- Keeps the x-ray room orderly as directed by the department head.
- Prepares and administers radiopaque contrast media to patients as needed, assisting physicians during procedures.
- Handles administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, providing patient instructions, managing film filing, and maintaining records.
- Assists patients with mobility, including moving and positioning on x-ray tables.
- Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes and pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands for at least 6 hours a day.
- Adapts care delivery to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, ensuring effective communication.
- Adheres to the standards outlined in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Schedule Notes
This is a 13-week assignment, Monday through Friday, no weekends, with 8-hour shifts based on volume. Potential shift times include:
- 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM

- Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology.
- Completion of clinical and A.R.R.T. requirements.

- Must possess New Jersey State License.
- Must be eligible for National Registry and pass the examination.
