<p>JOB DESCRIPTION<br />ASSISTANT MIDDLE SCHOOL/ HIGH SCHOOL 6-12 PRINCIPAL </p> <p><br /><strong>QUALIFICATIONS : </strong><br /> Master s Degree or higher with course background in educational administration and/or curriculum development in the field of secondary education.<br /> Meet administrator continuing education requirements.<br /> Possession of valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate and Administrator s certificate.<br /> Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience at the secondary level (preferred).<br /> Previous experience as a school administrator (preferred).<br /> Demonstrated knowledge of current educational issues and practices including school improvement, curriculum, school climate issues, and maintaining a safe learning environment.<br /> Experienced in the management, documentation, and reporting of student discipline and attendance with ability to establish Positive Behavior Support programs and procedures to improve student behavior and attendance.<br /> Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.<br /> Demonstrated knowledge of best educational practices for improving student achievement through high school reform initiatives, Professional Learning Communities, and technology in the classroom.<br /> Commitment to high ethical standards.<br /> Other qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board of Education. </p> <p><strong>BASIC FUNCTIONS: </strong> Under the direction of the principal, assists in all matters pertaining to the administration of the school. </p> <p><strong>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: </strong><br /> 1. Serves as the authority in charge during the absence of the principal.<br /> 2. Assumes responsibilities for student discipline and attendance; holds conferences with counselors, parents, students, staff, and principal regarding disciplinary referrals, attendance, and other issues; and inter-school transfers.<br /> 3. Assists the principal with providing direction and leadership in working with the school improvement team, process, implementation, and evaluation focused on classroom management, student behavior, discipline, attendance, and truancy.<br /> 4. Oversees the system for student attendance. Including PBIS for attendance, consequences for chronic absenteeism and truancy, and quarterly monitoring and reporting.<br /> 5. PBIS/MTSS - work with all support staff to determine steps to support students in need. <br /> 6. Assists the principal with coordination and proper supervision of all school sponsored events and co-curricular activities.<br /> 7. Supervise and monitor student behavior to maintain an academic environment conducive to student achievement including, but not limited to, supervision during lunch, in the hallways and during co-curricular activities at night and after school.<br /> 8. Assists the principal in maintaining proper and accurate documentation for pupil <br />accounting, the office of civil rights, and state reporting in the areas of attendance <br />and discipline.<br /> 9. Serves as the building s contact person with the student resource officer in all matters including school safety, student behavior, and reports.<br /> 10. Provides educational leadership in the development and implementation of curriculum, instruction, data, and assessment. With a strong focus on the improvement of classroom management for instruction.<br /> 11. Assumes responsibility for revising and implementing the Student Handbook.<br /> 12. Assists the principal in the areas of classroom fidelity checks, walkthroughs/observations, and the evaluation of staff.<br /> 13. Assists the principal with assuring compliance with all state/federal laws and regulations regarding students, staff, and the educational programs of the building.<br /> 14. Shares responsibility to enforce and implement all district administrative guidelines and board policies.<br /> 15. Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with all building stakeholders.<br /> 16. Attends board meetings<br /> 17. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. </p><br>
