**Job Title: Respiratory Therapist**
**Shift: Night Shift (3x12.0)**
**Job Description:**
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will perform a variety of respiratory therapy procedures and contribute to patient well-being as medically prescribed and within the scope of professional licensing. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conducting thorough patient evaluations and developing appropriate treatment plans.
- Educating patients on the purpose and procedure of treatments, tests, and equipment, as well as providing necessary discharge education.
- Administering various physician-prescribed respiratory treatments utilizing invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers.
- Performing chest physiotherapy and various suctioning methods (oropharyngeal, nasal, and tracheal) to facilitate secretion clearance.
- Monitoring blood oxygen levels and capnography per hospital policy.
- Reviewing patients’ chest x-rays to assess for the need for further evaluation.
- Conducting pulmonary function studies and assisting with emergency procedures related to respiratory care as required, such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
- Performing tracheostomy care, including the insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes.
- Executing arterial punctures and evaluating ventilation efficiency by monitoring and recording clinical data.
- Administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in accordance with BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Setting up, self-testing, and operating mechanical ventilation equipment, as well as performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Documenting all pertinent treatment information and patient responses in respiratory care records and patient charts.
- Communicating effectively with attending and pulmonary physicians regarding therapy efficiency and ensuring proper hand-off communication during shift transitions.
- Maintaining accurate records for respiratory therapy billing and resolving any discrepancies.
