Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
Certifications (Required):
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- TNCC
Skills Required:
- Strong assessment and critical thinking
- Adaptability and communication
- Dependability and punctuality
- Medical terminology proficiency
Preferred Skills:
- EKG interpretation
- MOAB certification
Charting System: Sunrise / Allscripts

Unit & Facility Details

Unit Size:
- 25 procedure rooms
- 8 hallway beds (used 24/7)
- 4-bed secure psychiatric annex
Staffing:
- Day/Eve (7a–3a): 1 Charge RN, 7 RNs, 3 ED Techs, 2 RP; Annex: 1 RN, 1 ED Tech
- Night (3a–7a): 1 Charge RN, 6 RNs, 2 ED Techs, 1 RP; Annex: 1 RN, 1 ED Tech
Patient Ratios: 4:1 (flexible during acute surges)
Patient Population:
- Complex cardiac (NEHI patients)
- Sepsis, DKA, Stroke, Trauma
- Psychiatric care
Procedures Performed:
- Trauma & stroke care
- Laceration repair
- Orthopedic trauma
- Ultrasound IV & IO insertion
- Eye exams, EKGs
- Cardiopulmonary & psychiatric interventions
Equipment Used:
- Lucas Device
- Hotline Rapid Infuser
- Alaris Pumps
- Pyxis
- Ultrasound IV
Interdisciplinary Support:
- IV Teams, Respiratory, Radiology, Social Services, Pharmacy, Unit Secretary

Dress Code: Scrubs required; no hooded shirts or sweatshirts (for safety)
Protocols: RNs follow policy-based protocols for initial patient care including labs, EKGs, imaging, and medications
