Get to Know Your Team: UT Health Pittsburg offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, a sleep lab, wound healing center, swing bed care, 16 physician offices and a UT Health East Texas Olympic Center fitness facility. Explore Career Pathways for Laboratory Professionals: Responsibilities The Phlebotomist functions as a laboratory professional who performs specimen collection techniques or specimen collection instructions that include; venipuncture, capillary draws, urine collection instruction, and specimen culture collection instruction. Qualifications Job Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent Preferred Job Requirements: Completion of an accredited phlebotomy/medical assistant program with clinicals or previous phlebotomy experience Certification from nationally recognized agency. Accepted agencies and certifications include, but are not limited to: National Heathcareer Association – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (NHA) National Heathcareer Association – Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (NHA CCMA) American Society for Clinical Pathology – Phlebotomy Technician: PBT (ASCP) American Medical Technologists – Registered Phlebotomy Technician: RPT (AMT) National Center for Competency Testing – National Certified Phlebotomy Technician: NCPT (NCCT) American Certification Agency – Certified Phlebotomy Technician: CPT (ACA) Experience working in the clinical setting
