CHR's Behavioral Intervention (BIT) Team is a multidisciplinary team consisting of representatives from Campus Counsel, Staff & Faculty Counseling, Insurance & Risk Management, UCLA Police Department and Employee & Labor Relations that works to provide a safe work environment for faculty, staff, students and visitors - one that is free of violent behavior and threats of harm.
Position Summary Reporting to the Employee & Labor Relations Director and in collaboration with Legal Affairs, Insurance & Risk Management, Staff & Faculty Counseling Center, Strategic Communications, and UCPD, the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) Coordinator is responsible for exercising sound and independent judgment to effectively respond to potential threats of violence involving UCLA campus departments. The BIT Coordinator works closely with and has a dotted line reporting relationship with the BIT Manager. The BIT Coordinator develops key relationships with campus departments, including high-ranking administrators and faculty members, Legal Affairs, Campus and Medical Center Human Resources, University of California Police Department, Insurance and Risk Management, and the Staff & Faculty Counseling Center. The BIT Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the BIT's activities are well coordinated. This position evaluates and develops the threat management coordination processes, including the methods of communication and all aspects of maintaining documentation to log activities. The BIT Coordinator is responsible for evaluating the effectiveness of the policies and procedures for managing violence prevention and for expanding and improving response protocols and programs. The BIT Coordinator conducts program outreach and identifies areas of campus training necessary to support the BIT. The BIT Coordinator maintains collaborative working relationships with other Campus Response Groups (i.e. Consultation & Response Team and UCLA Health Threat Assessment Team, etc.). The BIT Coordinator is the Program Administrator for the Workplace Violence Prevention program and holds a high-visibility position to ensure that cases reported are handled in a timely and accurate manner. The BIT Coordinator is the Alternate Chair of the Incidents of Concern Committee (IOCC) with campus-wide visibility of Threat Assessment & Management.
Salary & Compensation *UCLA provides a full pay range. Qualifications - 1. Demonstrated experience with workplace violence prevention or threat assessment programs. (Required)
- 2. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by higher education organizations preferred and/or other organizations addressing the threat of violence. (Required)
- 3. Ability to coordinate resources during and after potentially violent situations and respond quickly as incidents unfold. Ability to make specific recommendations to allow focused use of resources. (Required)
- 4. Ability to handle issues that are confidential and time-sensitive with tact, sensitivity, and discretion. (Required)
- 5. Experience, or demonstrated skill in designing, developing, and conducting effective Workplace Violence Awareness and Prevention Training Programs. (Required)
- 6. Ability to coordinate behavioral or workplace violence threat assessments. (Required)
- 7. Ability to track crisis response activities and coordinate an effective and appropriate response. (Required)
- 8. Knowledge and skills with software applications such as MS suite, applicant tracking systems, and Social Media platforms. (Required)
- 9. Strong written and verbal communication skills to compose and deliver program materials and reports, which are logical, concise, and grammatically correct. (Required)
- 10. Ability to work evenings and weekends to manage and monitor potential threats. (Required)
- 11. Knowledge of threat management and mitigation best practices. (Preferred)
- 12. Experience in coordinating a threat or behavioral assessment team of multidisciplinary experts with backgrounds in legal affairs, law enforcement, physical security, psychology, risk, and human resources. (Preferred)
Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations - Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience (Required)
