Posting Details
PERA is a 401(a) qualified governmental plan that is governed by the New Mexico Public Employees Retirement Act and offers 31 different coverage plans, two tiers of membership and is comprised of 335 participating public employers. PERA's plans currently cover state, municipal and county employees, police, firefighters, judges, magistrates, legislators, and volunteer firefighters.
Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.
Why does the job exist?
The position is part of the Albuquerque staff unit and responsible for providing excellent customer service by providing information required for retirement purposes. PERA represents 57,000 active members, 48,000 retirees and 31 retirement plans.
How does it get done?
-Manages day to day operations of the Albuquerque Office
-Training and mentoring staff
-Manage the retirement process by counseling members, ensuring incoming retirements are calculated promptly and with accuracy for approximately 2,000 annual retirements.

Minimum Qualification
Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or Accounting and four (4) years of direct job experience in retirement processing, benefits administration, and/or auditing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required. Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
