Description The Manager of Family Services is a key member of the family office team, dedicated to supporting both the Rising Generation and the Co-Principals through a wide range of services that foster harmony, education, lifestyle, and governance. Reporting to the Head of Family Office, this role ensures smooth delivery of client service and helps translate the family's values into day-to-day practices and programs.
This is an operational role with a future-focused lens, designed to strengthen succession planning and prepare the Rising Generation for leadership and stewardship. The Manager of Family Services will build trust-based relationships with family members, while developing structured processes, programs, and resources that meet their evolving needs. Through this work, the role supports the continuity of the family's vision and the long-term success of the enterprise.
Principal Functions of the Job Family Engagement & Legacy
- Foster family unity and deeper personal connections by minimizing business discussions and delegating responsibilities to the family office and governance structures.
- Preserve and grow the family legacy across generations by balancing immediate wealth benefits for current members with a long-term focus on sustaining future generations through responsible stewardship.
- Align the family to leverage their wealth for positive contributions to the world, reflecting their collective desire to make a meaningful societal impact locally, domestically, and globally.
Rising Generation & Co-Principals Support
- Act as the primary contact for rising-generation family members, addressing their needs and coordinating interactions with the family office and trustees.
- Build trust and relationships with rising-generation family members and develop a family service function that can support their evolving needs, supported by clearly documented policies and procedures.
- Provide direct support and guidance to rising generation family members, ensuring they are well-informed and engaged with the family office's services and initiatives.
- Proactively engage with rising-generation family members to support financial planning and analysis, tax planning/compliance activities, overall risk management (e.g., insurance needs), and property/home management needs.
- Provide ongoing support to the Co-Principals, ensuring seamless communication and alignment with governance structures and family services.
Education & Development
- Support current and future generations with formal and ongoing education in stewardship, financial literacy, wealth management, and the role of the family office.
- Plan, develop, and deliver educational programs for rising-generation family members (G2 and beyond), ensuring programs align with the family's standards and objectives.
- Collaborate with external service providers to enhance the quality and effectiveness of educational and development programs.
Governance & Operations
- Establish clear and consistent policies, processes, and communication channels within the family office.
- Implement legal and operational governance structures that support a multi-generational family enterprise. Clarify decision-making processes, trustee roles, communication protocols, and provide for equitable treatment within agreed-upon frameworks.
- Support the refresh and build-out of the Family Constitution and the operationalization of family governance structures.
- Organize, plan, and support the execution of family governance meetings (e.g., Family Assembly, Family Council), including reporting and communication between generations, ensuring all documentation is maintained according to established content management protocols.
Qualifications Experience - 7 years of experience within a single or multi-family offices' family services function.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and managing family governance frameworks such as family councils and family constitutions; knowledge of best practices with respect to structuring governance to support multi-generational family enterprises.
- Experience with and sensitivity to the complexities of multi-generational family relationships; ability to navigate and mediate conflicts, build trust, and foster unity among family members.
Skills and Competencies - Proven ability to navigate complex family dynamics and maintain harmony within the family structure.
- Proficiency in managing the interpersonal aspects of family offices, including communication strategies that respect individual perspectives while promoting collective goals.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with family members and other stakeholders.
- Understanding of family office operations and the needs of high-net-worth families, including an understanding of tax concepts and structures commonly encountered in family office settings (e.g., individuals, trusts, investment partnerships, exempt organizations, international interests).
- Strong project management and organizational management skills, with a proven track record of managing strategic initiatives.
- Familiarity with educational programs and personal service delivery within a family office context.
- Excels in environments characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
