Job Summary The Coordinator of Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) is responsible for leading the districtwide implementation and continuous improvement of services for gifted students in MNPS. This role ensures that the district's nearly 80 Gifted and Talented Teachers (GTTs) are supported with tools, training, and resources necessary to provide high-quality instruction to gifted learners. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for all GATE-related inquiries and guidance for principals, school staff, families, and community members. In collaboration with the Director of Advanced Academics and district leadership, the Coordinator ensures compliance with state and federal mandates and promotes access to gifted services across schools. This position requires a proactive, responsive, and driven leader with deep knowledge of gifted education. The Coordinator ensures that all gifted learners in MNPS are identified, supported, and challenged through high-quality and consistent instruction and programming.
What you will do - Program Implementation and Support: Coordinate the implementation of gifted education services across all grade levels in alignment with state and national standards.
- School-Based Support: Serve as the primary liaison for school-based staff and principals to address questions, provide guidance, and ensure consistent implementation of services for GATE students.
- Educator Support and Development: Support and mentor Gifted and Talented Teachers through regular communication, coaching, and resource sharing. Collaborate on professional learning design and delivery tailored to the needs of GTTs in MNPS.
- Communication and Engagement: Serve as the primary point of contact for families and community stakeholders regarding gifted education. Maintain clear, timely communication and support inclusive outreach.
- Core Instruction: Coordinate the planning and support of daily instruction to meet the needs of gifted students.
- Resource and Tool Management: Maintain and disseminate instructional tools, curriculum resources, and planning guides to support differentiated instruction for gifted and talented learners.
- Program Monitoring and Improvement: Collaborate with College and Career Readiness (CCR) Systems and data teams to support program tracking, identify areas for growth, and ensure equitable access to gifted services across schools. Use data-informed decision-making and reporting strategies to inform senior leadership of key programmatic metrics.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Advanced Academics, Advanced Academics partners and other CCR team members to ensure services for gifted students are well-integrated into the broader readiness framework.
- Screening and Identification Coordination: Lead logistics and communication for gifted identification processes, including universal screening and placement procedures.
- Special Programming Support: Support planning and execution of enrichment opportunities such as summer programming, academic competitions, and talent development initiatives
Education Qualifications - Doctoral Degree Preferred
Experience Qualifications - 1-3 years experience in an administrative role Required
Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of project management, task delegation, team coordination, budget management and resource allocation (High proficiency)

- Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills, with a track record of managing complex timelines and facilitating cross-functional collaboration (High proficiency)

Licenses and Certifications - Administrative license/endorsement is Required
- Applicants have an educator license with an endorsement in gifted education, OR, an educator with a license and completion of six semester hours of college or university coursework or the equivalent contact hours in teaching gifted students approved by the Dept. of Ed Preferred
Equivalency Starting At: $106,471.27
Salaries are determined by factors relevant to the position which may include education, experience, and other qualifications. Final compensation decisions are made at the discretion of MNPS in alignment with organizational policies and procedures. The stated salary range for certificated teaching positions is calculated based on 201 days and should be viewed as a reference. All provided salary ranges serve as a general guideline.
