Job Summary
Assist and advise the Vice-President in the overall development and operation of assigned areas of responsibility in the medical group within the goals and values of Vandalia Health including financial performance, service/program development, employee development and recognition, and customer satisfaction. May assume administrative responsibility for the medical group in the absence of the Vice President.
Responsibilities
Assume complete responsibility for the strategic management and development of assigned areas of responsibility in the medical group. Consult with and advise Vice President of issues related to the daily operation of the departments. Recommend changes in administrative policies to carry out goals and objectives more effectively and efficiently. Identify priorities for management actions. Provide and maintain effective communication with medical staff to ensure the efficient, economic, and quality performance of each department in providing quality health care, effective resource allocation and positive customer relations. Participate in hospital/medical staff meetings as required. Interface with managers, medical staff, patients, and families to resolve customer concerns and other operational issues to improve customer satisfaction. Optimize efficiency of a variety of interrelated services, ranging from inpatient care to outpatient follow-up care. Assess and evaluate the skills and performance of assigned management team to provide for professional development and to maximize contributions towards established goals. Provide for effective problem resolution within established guidelines. Assess assigned system needs over time and plan for recruitment and retention of adequate human resources. Serve on professional/civic service organizations and regularly attend community meetings to promote good hospital/community relations. Maintain professional affiliations to keep abreast of current trends and information in hospital administration. Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards. Monitor and improve identified system outcome indicators appropriate to the clinical services managed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department's identified patient ages. Specifically, the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.
10+ Years Health Care Administration experience with emphasis on management of a service or program.
Requires proven abilities in planning, financial and marketing management, and leadership development. Requires proven abilities in designing an organization to be responsive to internal and external customers.
