Being a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic in the United States Army is a great opportunity to get all the training you need, as well as job experience for the civilian world! The wheeled vehicle mechanic is primarily responsible for supervising and performing maintenance and recovery operations on wheeled vehicles and associated items, as well as heavy-wheeled vehicles and select armored vehicles

Job Duties

Maintain wheeled vehicles, their associated trailers and material handling equipment systems
Inspecting, servicing, maintaining, repairing, replacement, adjusting and testing of wheeled vehicles and material handling equipment systems, subsystems and components
Service automotive electrical systems including wiring harness, and starting and charging systems
Perform wheeled vehicle recovery operations

Training

Training for an allied trade specialist requires 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training, and 13 weeks of Advanced Individual Training with on-the-job instruction.

In order to meet the minimum qualifications, you must:

Be under 35 years old
Be a US Citizen or Hold at least permanent residence (I-551/Greed Card)
Have a High School Diploma/GED
Have no major medical issues
Have no major law violations (Felony level)

Required qualifications:

17 years or older
Legally authorized to work in the United States
