Why does the job exist?
This position will administer the operation of the Long-Term Care Division of the New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute (NMBHI). Position will have the overall strategic and operational responsibility of the 176-bed licensed nursing facility to include, staffing and human resources, fiscal management, general services, plant technology, dietary, communications and barbering.
How does it get done?
Position will interpret, direct implement and enforce all federal and state guidelines, healthcare rules, regulations, policies and procedures. Position will administrate principles for the purpose of licensure and accreditation of the facility. Position will be responsible for staff development and training of FTE assigned to the Division.
Who are the customers?
The primary customer are the patients and the family members of the patients under the care of the Long-Term Care Division within the NMBHI.
Ideal Candidate
Ideal candidate will have:
-Experience with executive level experience with broad business strategy knowledge on running a long-term care facility.
-Extensive understanding of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) regulations.
-Critical thinking and communication skills and ability to handle complex medical issues to include end-of-life situations.
-Experience in healthcare budget cycles and ability to forecast and anticipate unforeseen issues and devise solutions that will enhance and directly support the care giving efforts of the facility.
-Ability to deal with families and handle sensitive issues while simultaneously ensuring the primary mission of taking care of the residents placed within their charge.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and eight (8) years of management experience as it pertains to the essential duties of the classification. May require licensure as Nursing Home Administrator. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling twelve (12) years may substitute for the required education and experience.
Employment Requirements
Must hold and maintain a Long-Term Care Administrators License.
Working Conditions
This position will perform work in a hospital and office setting with exposure to Visual /Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Exposure to mentally and behaviorally challenged residents who may exhibit unpredictable and sometimes violent behaviors in volatile situations required. Effective 01/01/2015, New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute became a 100% Tobacco Free/ E-Cigarette Free Campus. As such, no tobacco, tobacco products or E-cigarette products are permitted on any part of the campus. Department is Long Term Care. Working hours may include weekends, holidays, overtime and callback hours.
